Mrs. Howard, our art specialty teacher, applied for and received a grant from the Nebo Education Foundation. She requested funds to purchase digital cameras for the students to use to study photography, movement, balance and many other principles of composition. She has big ideas and high hopes that this will be a fun way for students to engage with technology safely and appropriately, while also learning how to transform images in fun, artistic ways! Congratulations, Mrs. Howard!

Today was the first day of Art Club! It was a fun, successful day of painting dogs! PTA sponsored clubs have been a fun addition this year. "Kind People Are Our Kind of People"
Kindness week continues at Santaquin Elementary. Students signed and drew on a kindness banner. Mrs. Teuller, our school counselor, has had great activities for students at lunch all week, and it has been so fun watching the students participate!

Ms. Nielsen, one of our fabulous first grade teachers, won a Constitution Teacher Contest from the 2024 Freedom Festival. She had to submit images of her and her class learning about the United States Constitution and she WON a hefty ca$h prize! Congratulations!!

Students worked hard on designing and creating a yearbook cover for the yearbook cover contest. While this is the fourth consecutive year of the contest, it is the first time that every student participated.! They made them during their art specialty, focusing on how to convey a theme. This year's theme was "Life is a Highway." Each cover was evaluated and a top 30 were chosen anonymously by faculty and staff. The top 30 were displayed proudly in the main hall. Then EVERY STUDENT got to cast their vote for their favorite! The winner was fifth grader, Avery Staheli. Congratulations! Her artwork will be featured on the cover of the 24-25 yearbook! Don't forget to order yearbooks by March 31st :)

It is kindness week at Santaquin Elementary! Students had the chance to write on a heart what kindness means to them! It is a colorful and beautiful reminder of what and how we can show kindness to ourselves and others. It means so much to hear what our students have to say about kindness....
"Kindness is..."
"...like a big hug"
"...a friend who would put your needs in their hands"
"...helping someone out just to help out, but you don't do it for a reward"
"...a super power no one will change"
"...the only thing you need to guide you to success"
"...respecting others, little things still count!"

It has come to our attention that our school drop off procedures are causing some distress. If you are a grown up, bringing children to school, please do it patiently, and safely. Our students, families, and faculty are SO important to us, and our goal is for Santaquin Elementary to be a SAFE place. Please give yourself enough time to get to school, to wait in line, and to practice the drop off line etiquette. We ask that vehicles pull forward as much as possible, have children exit quickly and safely, and then continue to exit the parking lot. The pull through lane is for cars who are going to pull through to the parking lot and/or designated parking spaces. Please use the lanes accordingly. In reference to the crosswalks, please be patient, as our students who are walking or crossing have the right of way. Our faculty works hard to ensure they're crossing safely, so please make sure to give them a polite and friendly wave for doing everything they can for our students. Thank you all for your help with this and Happy Friday Eve!

PTA sponsored clubs have been a HUGE success this year. Students are loving them. Please consider joining our outstanding group of PTA parents to make sure they can keep the clubs on the calendar for next year. If you have an interest in sports, science, games, etc., and can contribute some time to help our students develop their skills outside of the classroom, then this would be the perfect opportunity. More information about clubs will be shared at upcoming PTA meetings.
